This Privacy Policy applies to the MuteMaster app (hereby referred to as "Application") and governs data collection and usage. By using the Application, you consent to the data practices described in this statement.

1

Prominent Disclosure: Location Access

To provide the core functionality of the Application, we require specific access to your location data.

⚠️ MuteMaster collects location data to enable the "Automatic Mute" feature, which silences your device when you enter specific zones (like your office or school), even when the app is closed or not in use.

If you decline this permission, the automatic geofencing features will not function.

2

Data Collection: What, Why, and When

We adhere to the principle of data minimization. We only access data and permissions necessary for the app to function.

A. Permissions & Data

Precise Location ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION BACKGROUND_LOCATION
What
GPS coordinates (Latitude/Longitude).
Why
To detect when your device enters or exits the "Silent Zones" you have created.
When
The Android OS monitors your location in the background. The app receives a trigger only when a geofence transition occurs.
Notifications POST_NOTIFICATIONS
What
Permission to post status bar alerts (Android 13+).
Why
To inform you when the app has automatically changed your ringer mode (e.g., "Phone Muted").
When
Sent immediately after a zone entry/exit or schedule activation event.
Audio Settings ACCESS_NOTIFICATION_POLICY
What
Read/Write access to Ringer and Media volume settings.
Why
To toggle the phone between Ring, Vibrate, and Silent modes, and to set custom media volume levels when a schedule or geofence activates.
When
Accessed only when a zone transition or time-based schedule event is triggered.
Exact Alarms SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM USE_EXACT_ALARM
What
Permission to schedule precise, time-critical alarms (Android 12+).
Why
To power the Time-Based Muting feature, ensuring your phone mutes and unmutes at exactly the scheduled time — even when the device is in deep sleep (Doze mode).
When
Triggered at the exact start and end times of any schedule you have created.
Boot on Start RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED
What
Permission to run code when the device restarts.
Why
To automatically restore and reschedule all your active geofences and time-based schedules after a device reboot, so your silent zones are never lost.
When
Runs once immediately after the device finishes booting.
Schedule & Preference Data
What
Schedule names, start/end times, active days of week, and custom sound profile settings (ringer mode, media volume percentage) you configure in the app.
Why
To persist your schedules across app restarts and device reboots.
When
Saved locally to your device's database whenever you create or edit a schedule. Never transmitted off-device.
3

Data Storage and Retention

Storage Location Entirely on your device using a local SQLite database (Room). No cloud, no servers.
